TV
(twisted vision?)
The Tv camera, does it lie ?
Its ever focused roving eye.
Now zoomed in on the Balkan fight
Beamed to our TV every night.
The camera shows a row of Yanks,
Stood by their gleaming battle tanks.
All polished shiny, neat and clean,
No battle have these monsters seen.
But that's not what the public sees,
A bunch of hardened veterans these.
They've won no battles, fought no war,
But for Bill Clinton, points they score.
It's roving eye,sees red berets,
Through the Balkan summer haze.
The British Paras, they are there,
To score some points for Tony Blair.
But upstaged both, these C in C's
The Russians rolled in like the breeze.
Whilst we were waiting for the Yanks,
On Serbian soil, rolled Russian tanks.
So Boris won his points that day
The TV cameras turned his way.
Bill and Tony lost their share
Of all the media spotlights glare.
That's all this conflict seems to feed,
The media vultures endless greed.
To score good PR, seems the aim,
In this big Balkan poker game.
But peoples lives, they have been lost,
For our mistakes they've paid the cost.
So look beyond the media glare,
The smell of death still fills the air.
Search beyond the cameras gaze,
The truth they warp or just erase.
Truth is never what it seems,
Especially on our TV screens.
